Embassy of Iceland Hosts GRÓ Alumni Reception in Mongolia
The Embassy of Iceland in Beijing hosted a fruitful networking reception for GRÓ alumni in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Mongolia has long been one of GRÓ’s most engaged and valued partner countries, and the event provided a meaningful opportunity to connect alumni across the GRÓ training programmes and to strengthen ties between the alumni community, the Embassy of Iceland and UNESCO, as GRÓ works under the auspices of UNESCO.

Building on Years of Collaboration with Makerere University and NEMA
GRÓ LRT had again the pleasure of welcoming guests through the Erasmus+ mobility programme, this time from Makerere University in Uganda. The delegation includes four faculty members from Makerere University in Kampala, Dr Lawrence Orikiriza, Head of Department; Dr Gerald Eilu, Associate Professor; Dr Daniel Waiswa, Senior Lecturer; Dr Enock Ssekuubwa, Lecturer; and one specialist from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) of Uganda, Dr Jerome S. Lugumira, Natural Resources Management Specialist.

GRÓ Alumni in China gather at Networking Reception hosted by the Embassy of Iceland
GRÓ Alumni in China gathered at the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing yesterday at a networking reception hosted by the Embassy. Ambassador Þórir Ibsen warmly received the group and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with this dynamic and accomplished alumni community.

UNESCO ADG Dr. Lidia Brito joins GRÓ Governing Board
Dr. Lidia Brito, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, visited Iceland in May, to attend the 30th meeting of the Governing Board of GRÓ – Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change.

Ongoing work to encourage alumni to establish GRÓ Alumni Networks presented on UNESCO Day
Ongoing work at GRÓ to encourage GRÓ alumni to establish national and regional alumni networks was presented at the annual UNESCO day, that the Icelandic National Commission to UNESCO organised in the National Museum of Iceland on the 3rd of June.
